For my English 197 seminar: The Post Literary Condition, we were asked to create a project that handled the themes we discussed in class. My central theme is concerned with the introduction of new authors in this post literary age and what that means for human authors but is also entangled with the question of authorship, or who the project should be credited to. Lastly, it tries to prove that computers have the capability to work with “human” concepts like time, heartbreak, and mind vs. body.

Simply, Trompe L’Oeil is a project where my computer and I write poetry together. I used javascript to program my computer so that it may produce meaningful poetry.
